Oh Oh Oh Little Rock
Our November anniversary falls at a busy time of year. Especially for a husband in the mall business with Christmas kicking off the first week of November and for me the academic world is ramping up for finals as well. This year the IDEC (Interior Design Educator Counsel) Southwest Conference fell a week before our anniversary in Little Rock, Arkansas. We decided that Derick would join me and we would celebrate a little early. We love a good road trip so we did some online research, found THE hotel, and booked a few extra days. We have never been to Little Rock before but were excited to check it out. I remember feeling a little underwhelmed by the fact the conference was scheduled for Little Rock but once we got there I knew how wrongly I judged this place. We had the best time walking the River Market District when I wasn’t in conference, finding great local restaurants and coffee shops, and I absolutely fell in love with the hotel the minute we walked through the doors. I honestly could have never left the confinements of The Capitol Hotel for the entire stay and would have been just as happy. This place was amazing. The original mosaic floors and marble clad columns and walls, soaring ceiling crowned by a stately stained glass, The stair cases or the original elevator takes you to a mezzanine overlooking the lobby and hosts the most quaint balcony ready for you to sit and sip coffee with no agenda……….
