Holiday Wrapping Ambitions from Pinterest
It’s Christmas Eve and while we did the majority of our shopping in October and November preparing for our transfer in December, alas, I am still wrapping down to the day before. I do love pretty gift wrap and pin tons of ideas every year I aspire to achieve. And every year I come close, but never quite find the time or energy to expertly create a stylish and cohesive display under the tree. Next year goals.
Here is a collection of my favorite gift wrap ideas from my Pinterest collection that are surely inspirational and easy, some more than others. I have to admit, I love the minimalist and wintery looks the most. But am drawn to some festive color here and there. In an ideal world, my Christmas scheme at home would fall in the minimalist and wintery category as well full of greenery, white lights, golds, silvers, whites, grays and black. But my family heirlooms are way too important to sacrifice them for a well-styled home. It’s important to me to integrate my special and meaningful pieces with modern and minimal touches to create the perfect Christmassy balance.
I typically take this approach with either fresh snips off the tree when it’s real, or this year I found a package at target that was a 20 count with mixed greenery that was perfect. I even had some left over for next year, but I’m still considering buying more before the season’s over to store away for next year. I love this idea of adding jingle bells or non-typical sprigs like eucalyptus.
Well it didn’t happen (again) this year, but I am determined to try drying oranges for all things Christmas decor and gifts next year. Adding a slice with a sprig of rosemary, tied with a basic white twine, to craft paper wrap with a pretty little tag is simple, fragrant, and ready for giving.
I love the idea of adding a photo and have one photog friend that has actually accomplished this in the past. I love both of these idea from simple craft paper, chalk, and twine to pretty white paper with luxurious ribbons (sometimes layered which is genius) greenery, and even the occasional glittery ornament.
Last year I went to an Anthropologie workshop on holiday poms with two friends and went nuts with making those for gift embellishments. The Blushing Bungalow even incorporated the dried oranges and tells you how to make them here!
Sometimes a pretty printed paper is all you need. I love Rifle Paper Co. and they have beautiful options for the holidays and beyond. I also love Delineate Your Dwelling’s addition of a little bottle-brush tree here!
The last idea that I am obsessed with and will have to try next year (why wait, can be used for birthdays and other holidays as well!) is Furoshiki which is a Japanese fabric wrapping technique. At Least blog walks you through the process and offers helpful hints about using left-over or old pieces of clothing. I am SO doing this very soon!
